LADIES AND GENTS ALABAMA'S OWNS :BILLY REID

Reid grew up in Amite, La., which is south of the Mississippi line. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University and the Art Institute of Dallas, where he studied fashion design and merchandising. He has been mentored by Saks Fifth Avenue tailored clothing veterans and had a six-year stint at Reebok International, where he traveled worldwide developing the early stages of the Greg Norman collection.
He founded his own fashion design and marketing company in 1995, working with clients that included Fruit of the Loom, Neiman Marcus, Reebok and Takashimaya. His first collection launched in 1998. He is recipient of the 2001 Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award. He left New York after 9/11, and came to North Alabama with his wife, who is from Florence. Reid opened Pickett Place on Seminary Street in Florence before moving his headquarters to the historic building on Court Street. He opened a shop on Bond Street in New York City in 2008. It was voted Best Men’s Store by New York Magazine and recently award GQ's "The Best New Designers In America". He also has shops in Nashville, Charleston, S.C., Charlotte, N.C., Dallas and Houston. So as you can see that just because u are from the south, doesnt mean that u kant be one of the biggest in the fashion industry!!
